**Acquisitions/Serials**

This is a starting point for exploring the use of [[http://ofbiz.apache.org/|OFBiz]] as the basis of an //Acq/Serials// module for [[http://open-ils.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/|Evergreen]], called **WoodChip**. OFBiz (Open For Business) is an [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ERP|ERP]] system that, as of Dec. 20, 2006, is officially a [[http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/incubator-general/200612.mbox/raw/%3c31cc37360612212134w4e62392dxfcbcb9e53a2ddd0d@mail.gmail.com%3e|TLP (top level project) at the Apache Software Foundation]]. The lifeblood of OFBiz are its data models, which are a faithful rendition of Len Silverston's [[http://www.amazon.com/Data-Model-Resource-Book-Warehouse/dp/0471153648|Data Model Resource Book]] with many additions. OFBiz also adheres to ISO and other standards for entities such as Geographic Boundaries and Units of Measure, and [[http://www.omg.org/|OMG]] standards for business processes. A [[http://shark.enhydra.org/|Workflow Engine]] is built into OFBiz, which is modeled after [[http://www.wfmc.org|Workflow Management Coalition]] (WfMC.org) specifications.

WoodChip will bring together several enterprise applications bundled with OFBiz.
