---- ====== Installing OpenSRF and Evergreen ====== This page contains documentation for installing Evergreen on specific distributions. If you would like to document installation on a distribution that is not currently listed here, please use one of the existing distribution installation pages as a template. **NOTE:** On occasion, the documentation here may lag behind the actual development due to the rapid improvements by the Evergreen developers. If you run into an issue, drop a line to the Open-ILS-DEV mailing list. Testing and opening of new bug reports is strongly encouraged and appreciated! The Evergreen community makes an effort to ensure that OpenSRF and Evergreen ILS can run on almost any Linux distribution. At this time much (if not most) of the development work is done on Ubuntu LTS and Debian and some Fedora as well as Gentoo. Ubuntu LTS appears to be the most widely used flavour both for developers. Some developers have created scripts that help build and install the Evergreen server. **NOTE:** These scripts are used for testing only, and no guarantees are made that they will work for you. Please use caution and examine them carefully before using any of these scripts! ==== Distribution-specific install information ==== * Installing Evergreen 2.3 on Gentoo ===Current stable releases=== * Installing Evergreen 2.0.x on Ubuntu or Debian * Installing Evergreen 2.0.x on Fedora * Installing Evergreen 1.6.1.x on Ubuntu or Debian * Installing OpenSRF 1.6.x ===Unstable/Beta Releases=== * Installing from Git ==== Configuring the system ==== * Organization and Policy Editing * For holds to work properly, you need to run this command as the **opensrf** user to calculate the proximity of locations in the Organizational Unit tree: autogen.sh -u -c /openils/conf/opensrf_core.xml This is an expensive operation if you have a large Organizational Unit tree, so don't run it indiscriminately. * Building the Staff Client * Adding localized languages to the database * Installing the SIP server * Using nginx to serve static content * Installing Newer versions of PostgreSQL from source ====Troubleshooting==== * troubleshooting:Checking for errors * troubleshooting:Problems compiling Evergreen * troubleshooting:Problems starting Evergreen * troubleshooting:Problems with the catalog * troubleshooting:Problems with the staff client * troubleshooting:Problems with reports * troubleshooting:Problems with the configuration interface ====Upgrading==== * Evergreen * OpenSRF
