Evergreen Website Group

NOTES / January 26, 2011

Present: Amy Terlaga, Anoop Atre, Kathy Lussier

WEB SITE – CURRENT CONTENT

First step – We will each to take a section of the User Stories document (http://www.evergreen-ils.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=webteam.user_stories_2011) developed by the Evergreen Web Team and systematically go through the current website to see if that functionality/content is already there/partially there/not there at all.

14 Functionality Requirements (Anoop) 33 Content Requirements (Kathy – first 16, Amy - 17-33)

As part of our investigation, we will note the path we took to get to the relevant information. Is it complete? Is it current? Is it findable? If the information is no longer current, we will note it on the wiki. CONTENT NEEDS UPDATING

If the information/link is hard to find on a specific page, we will also make notes if it is reasonable to suggest splitting up a page into two or more pages for better findability or creating a link at a higher level if the cookie crumb trail is too involved.

As we move forward, how do we continue to keep the website current? The work done up until now has been outstanding, but it has fallen to just a few dedicated individuals. Anoop mentioned that Koha has a website manager; maybe we should ask for volunteers from the Evergreen community.

WIKI GUIDELINES

We will try to develop some basic guidelines for wiki editing. Some suggestions for these guidelines – -How to create a new wiki page (two methods – on its own, off of an existing page) -Who to contact when a page needs deleting -Using the wiki namespace structure -Creating notes as wiki pages as opposed to uploading text documents that aren't searchable

Amy will draft a beginning set of guidelines for Anoop and Kathy to review/add to.

The team will meet again on Thursday, February 3rd, at 10:30CST/11:30EST. At that time we will review our user story functionality/content website findings.
