We have a lot to do vis a vis our move to EDC, so as Brad suggested here's an online list of tasks. Feel free to add your name to as many as you like and add a strikethrough tag around any you complete. I've started the process based on current plans, but feel free to change whatever you see fit.

GOALS

  • Get demo mini-cluster running. This is the cluster that is meant just to run for demos and presentations. – miker, berick
  • Get Dev cluster going on new hardware.miker, berick
  • Migrate current penguin to penguin II (I almost put this down as a task, but it's a really big when you start to think about it). – bradl, phasefx Need to change the CVS sync so that seed is pushing changes to penguin, not penguin pulling from seed – phasefx
  • Integrate current dev servers into new framework.
  • Move GPLS IT stuff to EDC, get the 3rd rack going. 3rd rack is powered, but some of the IT server move is going to take an extended period of time. – andrew, bradl
  • (Attempt to) Set up video conferencing stuff using OpenMCU – miker

TASKS

  • Daemonize OpenMCU – miker
  • Replace the faulty 48 port switch (HP shipped, will be at EDC Monday). – bradl
  • Get fibre NIC replacement (HP shipping). – bradl
  • Replace dead Elroy drive (ditto). – bradl
  • NIS stuff. – berick
  • DHCP for cluster. – berick
  • Config 48 port switches. – bradl (Yay for incorrect cables!)
  • Ethernet cable labeling (about 50% done now) – bradl
  • Proper power config (ensure that dual power machines go to two power sources, etc). – bradl
  • Complete ethernet wiring. – bradl
  • Complete KVM wiring. – bradl
  • Config KVM for remote access. – bradl
  • Install blanking panels. – bradl
  • Install VPN on rosie for cubes. – bradl (with a little help from his friends ;-) )
  • Get Active-Active on T-bone and Porkchop. We're delaying this. Currently, we have High Availability, but no session failover. There are two main routes to take with this, saru and ct_sync. I suspect ct_sync will be standard in the kernel in the future, but currently it has issues with NAT. – phasefx
  • Install Linux and Evergreen on DB, App, and Logger servers. – berick, miker
  • Config SAN. – bradl
  • Research peachnet OC-3 – andrew
  • DNS changes. – bradl can handle the public-facing DNS changes
  • Install 2nd 110v power strip in cabinet #2. – bradl (I asked Andrew to grab it from Clairmont for me) This does not exist. Andrew is going to purchase one.
  • Arrange power for cabinet #3. – bradl
  • Research and purchase redundant power supplies for 48-port switches. – bradl
  • Research dual-power supplied front-end switch. – bradl
  • Research supplying UPS for cube-space switch. – bradl
  • Figure out what the heck is going on with the KVM expansion module in the bottom of rack #2. – bradl It was a defective KVM cable. Get replacement from HP. HP has shipped. – bradl
  • Now re-do ethernet cabling to go to re-arranged switches. – bradl
  • Move Seed to EDC. – bradl
  • Get App08 replacement hard drive (HP shipped)– bradl
  • SNMP monitoring. – bradl, miker
  • Get NIC for Rosie. – miker
  • Build 3rd rack. – andrew, bradl
  • Figure out what's going on with OpenMCU vis a vis the crazy UDP packet storm. Short term fix is rate-limiting the traffic. – miker!!
