Membership Model Investigation Subcommittee

The Evergreen Membership Model Investigation Subcommittee was established at the September 21, 2023 Evergreen Project Board meeting.

Subcommittee Charge

Subcommittee membership: The subcommittee membership should represent the diversity in the Evergreen community to better identify potential challenges different types of organizations may face when asked to contribute to the project. Membership shall include representation from the following types of organizations:

  • Library consortia of different sizes
  • Libraries of different sizes
  • An academic library
  • A library or consortium based outside of the United States
  • Evergreen support providers

Committee charge:

  • perform an environmental scan of open-source and library organization membership models;
  • create a comparison document on the benefits and funding models used from similar organizations;
  • conduct interviews with some comparison organizations to find out what is working and what isn’t;
  • identify the type of nonprofit organization that is the best vehicle for collecting membership funds;
  • recommend a funding model and associated benefits that come with being a member;
  • speak broadly to potential uses for the funds raised, but leave the details of this discussion to the strategic planning process.
